Get Out of KC - Colorado Springs
Each month we like to share a place to get out of town to. If you are already thinking about places to go this summer - Let me try to convince you to go to
STAY
We took a road trip to Colorado Springs, and if you're from the Midwest, you'll know that a 6-8 hour drive is pretty doable. Once we arrived, we settled in at The Great Wolf Lodge. It's a bit on the pricey side, but staying there helped us save on other expenses. The kids had a blast at the massive indoor water park, and there was also a ropes course, arcade, and mini golf to keep them entertained. Plus, they offer a bunch of planned activities for the little ones.
PLAY
One of the main reasons we chose Colorado Springs was its proximity to the Great Sand Dunes. We discovered that in May and June, a stream flows through the dunes, and people set up tents, coolers, and chairs to relax in the water. It was definitely the highlight of our trip! We even tried sandboarding, which you can rent on your way into town—totally worth it!
Don't miss out on a leisurely hike at Garden of the Gods. It's an easy trail suitable for most people. We also took a shuttle bus up Pikes Peak, where we enjoyed some breathtaking views and tried the unique donuts at the summit. They're a bit different and quite a challenge to make at that altitude!
